Exercise
and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

don’t have to be elderly or a senior to have this disease… but today we are
smarter and more informed!!
Chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a term that usually involves a number
of breathing disorders including asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema.
Asthma
This
lung condition involves the bronchial tubes and leads to sudden attacks of
breathing difficulty. These attacks are triggered by allergies, dust, weather
changes, air pollution, stress.
Learning
proper breathing techniques, medication and relaxation can help to lessen
attacks and their severity.
Chronic
Bronchitis
This is a disease usually of cigarette smokers
and involves long-term, daily coughing along with breathing difficulty.
Bronchitis is characterized by a persistent, mucus producing cough and the
expectoration of phlegm.
Partial
improvement in symptoms and airflow is possible with treatment.

Healthy Menu For
Day
Three
Repeat
the cereal breakfast, but have a sliced small banana in place of the berries.
For lunch, stuff a whole-wheat pita with 1/4 cup of hummus, 1/4 cup of feta
cheese, sliced cucumbers and sliced tomatoes. At dinner, stir fry 3 oz. of
shrimp with 1 cup of snow peas and 1 cup of sliced carrots. Have over 1 cup of
brown rice. For your snacks, have 1/2 cup of low-fat cottage cheese with 1/2
cup of drained, canned pineapple and later, have 20 almonds.
