Food To Chew On:
Tuesday – Both Sides of The Coin
Luke
20:25 (KJV)
And he said unto them, Render
therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things
which be God's.
Thought For The Day:
Once our true calling as stewards of God’s grace in
understood, then tithing and support of the mission of the church and other
causes follows naturally and creatively.
On this “Terminator Tuesday” we are terminating “Heart
Disease” by eating the right foods that are healthy to our heart….. Heart
Disease is the number one killer among women and also men… according to some
resent findings… so it is our responsibility to take care of our body… be good
to your body and your body will be good to you… J
1.
Heart health. Heart-healthy diets rich in whole grain foods can
reduce the risk of heart disease.
2.
Reduce cancer risk. Low fat diets rich in fiber-containing grain
products, fruits and vegetables may reduce the risk of some types of cancer,
particularly of the stomach and colon.
3.
Manage diabetes. The American Diabetes Association recommends
whole grain as part of a diabetic diet.
4.
Keep you regular. Fiber from whole grains promotes regularity and
keeps the intestines working smoothly to help maintain good digestive health.
5.
Weight management. A growing body of evidence supports that people
who eat more whole grain tend to have healthier body weights and gain less
weight over time than those who don’t.
Here
are some exercises that will get your in shape and keep your Heart Happy!!!
Are you practicing Sun Salutation? Want to
brighten up your experience even more? Here are some simple and practical tips
that can help make your Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar) experience complete and
blissful. Happy Sun Saluting!
Tip #1:
Warm up the body before you start Surya Namaskar
It is a
good idea to do some Sukshma
Vyayama or gentle warm-up stretches before you start with the Surya
Namaskar rounds. This helps remove restlessness in the body and prepares it for
Surya Namaskar yoga postures.
Tip #2:
East or West?
Where to
face while doing Surya Namaskar? Do it facing the East direction if you are
doing Sun Salutation in the morning and the West direction if you are doing it
in the evening.
Tip #3:
Add the attitude of gratitude
It makes
a big difference! You will be able to enjoy your stretches much more. That
smile can keep the energy going.
Tip #4:
Do your Surya Namaskars gracefully
This
becomes important when you strive to achieve a higher target of Surya Namaskar
rounds ( some
people may even go up to 108 sun salutations ) Even when you pick up pace,
don’t do the poses with a jerk or with force. Allow the postures to flow gently
and gracefully one into the other.
A
Healthy Menu For
Tuesday
At breakfast, enjoy plain rolled oats cooked in skim milk
with 1/2 cup raisins and cinnamon. For lunch, you could have a salad composed
of 4 cups of leafy greens, 21 grape tomatoes, 1/2 cup chickpeas and 1 oz. feta
cheese. Have a serving of woven wheat crackers and fresh fruit on the side. For
dinner, boil 2 oz. of whole-grain pasta and have with low-sodium marinara sauce
and steamed broccoli. Snack on yogurt and cut-up vegetables.
