– A Multiplied Lunch
John
6:11 (NKJV)
And Jesus took the
loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and
the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they
wanted.
Thought
For The Day:
If you had been there on the day with a lunch under your
cloak, would you have offered it to Jesus?
Happy Wings Wednesday, as we continue to eat right and
exercise we are soaring like an eagle….we are flying heights we know not of…
and guess what? It feels good … so

Elderly
Balance Exercises For Seniors to Help Prevent Falls
You might have asked the question… Why do we have so many
articles about Elderly and Seniors Citizens? It is because we many not what to
admit it, but we are getting older every day and if we are not there jet we
will be there soon… so this is some preventive measures that we can use if
and when we need it….
"Why
is my balance getting worse and why am I falling?"
Have you ever lost your footing on wet or icy pavement
causing you to fling your arms in the air and sending your heart into high
gear?
If you have then you know how frightening losing your
balance can be. Ordinarily we take our balance for granted, but it is an
important and vital part of our daily life. As many as 28% to 45% of elders
fall each year.
Though our balance will decline as we age, balance
activities, elderly balance exercises and elderly balance training can limit
the loss or actually improve our performance.
Here are some things that may be involved with your
balance problems:
• Your vision may
decrease which can lead to falls due to not seeing clearly.
• Your hips and legs can become weaker making it harder
to walk.
• We can develop poor posture or have spinal degeneration
making it harder to stand erect.
• Our ability to lift our feet decreases and we can
stumble.
• It takes longer to react when something is in our way
causing us to fall.
• Many drugs interact causing dizziness or decrease
balance.
• Low blood pressure can lead to light-headedness
increasing our risk of falls.
* Caution: Make sure you check with your doctor if you
suspect a more serious balance problem involving vertigo, ear infections,
Meniere's disease, chronic dizziness or drug interactions.
That is why
beginning a balance program for elderly and seniors which incorporates strength
training, endurance training and balance training is essential in maintaining
and promoting good balance.

Rudy’s
Creamed Corn
This post originally appeared on July 28th, 2009. It
continues to be the most popular way that people find Bluebonnets &
Brownies, and it’s still one of my favorite ways to bring “home” to our dinner
table. About a week ago, I hosted 4 bloggers in my home for the weekend of Big
Summer Potluck. I served this for dinner on Thursday night with barbecued
chicken and Borracho Beans. It was a feast! With barbecue season nearly at a
close, I wanted to make sure you have time to put this on your Labor Day party
menu. You’ll be asked for the recipe for weeks to come. And because this side
dish comes together in the slow cooker without much effort, it’s the perfect
side dish for the grill. No oven, no mess, and it can be served right in the
slow cooker on the table. Enjoy!
Ingredients
4 lbs. frozen sweet corn
2 8 oz blocks
cream cheese, diced into 1 inch squares
1 stick (4 oz) of
salted butter
3/4 cup heavy
whipping cream
4 tablespoons of
sugar
1 teaspoon black
pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
Throw all the ingredients, without any sort of ceremony
or circumstance, into a crockpot on medium or low for at least 4 hours. If you
need it done faster, cook it on the stove or on high in the crockpot, but be
prepared to sacrifice a little of the savory goodness that results when corn is
allowed to soak in dairy for hours. All of the cream cheese pieces should be
completely melted and will easily break down and combine with the cream and butter
to make the ‘gravy’.
Do not over-salt. There is plenty of salt in the butter
and cream cheese. Over-salting will ruin this dish.
